ROADCLUB ON STEAM: 2nd march update - First menu screenshots (Work in progress)

Another two weeks have passed and here's our second march bi-weekly update on our progress.

With the main game shaping up to be good fun, we have turned our focus more on the menus. Here's the full list covering what we've done lately:

  • Improved our menu building systems to be able to faster revamp the existing menus. It's starting to look great. Check out the screenshots below for a work-in-progress look.
  • We rewrote big parts of the font rendering engine to be able to load and test .fnt fonts faster and using more tools. It really turned out to have a huge impact on the graphics impression.
  • New engine sounds! All sounds have been replaced by real recordings of engines for a more authentic sound.
  • New logo and menu graphics.
  • Went through a lot of music. We're getting closer to having a great soundtrack for you with pumping racing tracks and calmer menu songs.
  • Additional tweaks to AI, camera, gameplay and vehicles.

The game is really coming together and it's starting to feel great playing it. Hope you like the look of what we've done so far!

ROADCLUB ON STEAM: MARCH UPDATE

4/3/2015

Todays update brings you the first work-in-progress image of the new Steam version of Roadclub! You'll find it below as it compares the same part of a track from 2008 and in the current build of the Steam version. You'll notice things are a bit more crisp and that high resolutions and widescreen monitors are supported.

We've been hard at work on several other areas as well. Here's a short rundown:

  • The big focus for the past two weeks have been a huge reworking of the input controller systems. Gamepad management is now much more solid and allows for reconnecting and keybinding controllers while the game is running!
  • We've also made great progress reworking the UI to work on modern resolutions. A couple of scenes are done but many remain yet.
  • We've reached out to several popular indie game composers and we may have something to announce not too far in the future. Nothings decided yet though.
  • We've made several simplications and improvements to the game flow for a better experience. We care a lot about making sure the game feels smooth to navigate and that nothing gets in the way of you playing the game.

See you in a couple of weeks and in the meantime, enjoy the screenshot comparison below!
